Ten Years in the Making

I was given the great opportunity by my good friend 'J' to meet 'T' and 'C', and shoot their engagement pictures. 'J' and I share the same passion and natural high of photography. I love shooting with her because she has so many different ideas, and we are always giggling and giddy as school girls when it comes to anything that has to do with photography.

'T' and 'C' are from Orange County, and they will be getting married next month on their ten year anniversary! Ten years! Wow, that is a long time. After hearing that from 'T' I couldn't help but think about the past ten years of my life. And it just dawned on me that my Hubster and I will be celebrating ten years together this May. Then I thought about our first date ten years ago and it was at J's house! You see, J's little brother 'R', is our good friend and even our son's godfather and that is how I came about meeting 'J'. My Hubster and I actually played basketball at 'R' and J's house for our first date. Very romantic, I know. Still 'til this day, my Hubster still claims that he won the one on one game against me, but I think that girls are allowed one flagrant foul per game when playing against the opposite sex.

Before the shoot, 'J' and I decided to go to Old Town early so that we can scope out different spots for optimal pictures. Old Town is in the heart of San Diego and absolutely beautiful. The smell of the fresh Mexican food, the sound of the mariachi band, the rustic feel of the old, colorful buildings, all made for a beautiful Sunday afternoon photo shoot.

Bruddah

This amazing couple is my older brother 'R' and his girlfriend 'C'.

I wanted to practice taking pictures of couples and they volunteered (okay, more like I forced them). It was a gorgeous Saturday afternoon at Old Poway Park, a photographer's dream. As we entered the park, my mind was going a mile a minute thinking about all the different poses, angles, props, and lighting.

Can't wait to take their engagement, wedding, maternity, and baby pictures...Does not necessarily have to be in that order:).

A Girl and Her Guitar

Meet my beautiful cousin 'M'. She is beautiful and amazing inside as she is outside. We have been trying to get together for a photo shoot for months and the moon and stars finally aligned this past Saturday. I was a bit hesitant because we had planned for a 9:00 morning shoot and lighting was harsh. We shot in Point Loma around the Cabrillo Monument. I need more photo shoots under my belt, more experience, and more practice so she let me 'use' her as my model for the day. She has been cheering me on since the beginning in regards to my photography and has been a huge supporter.

It's Official...I'm a blogger

I have always followed numerous photography, parenting, teaching, and religious blogs, but was hesitant to start a blog of my own. At first it was too daunting of a task because I don't consider myself as technologically savvy as others and I did not have the time or patience to start one up. So finally here I am writing about bits and pieces of my life.

Why the title "Mamarazzi in Training" you ask?
Photography has been a growing passion of mine ever since my son was born. My Hubster was getting ready to go on his first deployment to Iraq and my son was only three months old. Before leaving, my Hubster bought me my first DSLR camera, a Canon Rebel XS. It was love at first sight and I was forever hooked. We wanted to capture every moment of my son while he was deployed. After coming home from his first deployment, I had captured over 10,000 pictures throughout the year. Needless to say, I captured most of those precious moments on my camera. After finding out we were expecting our second child, my Hubster upgraded my DSLR to my now Canon 7D. Yes, it was my birthday/anniversary/Mother's Day/Christmas/push gift all in one!
